Read-a-thon: 11:15am post

Well, Joanne Fluke is starting to grow on me....I will definitely be posting a review of the book later this week -- after I have caught up on sleep :)

After a 20 minute power nap......I have managed to complete about 2/3 of the book.

book currently reading: Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke
number of hours read so far: 3
number of pages read so far: 224 out of 324

I am going to take a quick shower - and then I will finish reading the book before posting again.

I must say, however, that this is SO much fun. Reading is such a solitary activity (which I LOVE -- I am a hermit in disguise) --- but doing this singular activity, knowing that there are many others concurrently reading at the same time, makes it feel like a community event. I am reading for me, most definitely - but I also feel like I am a part of a team and my measly efforts somehow translate to a greater purpose.

Many bloggers are reading for a charity. I plan to do the same. I do not know which charity - or how to quantify my giving -- but it will definitely have something to do with literacy in America. If you have any suggestions -- I would love to hear!!

  1. One of the reasons I like reading so much is because it is a solitary activity. I'm a very solitary person but this group thing is a very nice change. It makes reading so much more exciting! Keep up the good work!

  2. Wow, you've made good progress! I love the title of that book :-) Makes me want some chocolate chip cookies!

    Happy Reading!

  3. I agree with you Molly. I like being with people to a certain point, then begin to feel drained. I need solitary time.
You are doing great. I think a shower is in my near future too!

  4. I agree - This IS so much fun!! I love the reading part but I also like checking up on peoples blogs to see how they are doing.

  5. Chocolate cookies, yum.

I think it would be lovely to do a real life read-a-thon sometime, where everyone spent an hour getting to know one another then agreed to just chill, feel no pressure to be sociable or 'on' and just read together. I love to read in the same room as others (like my mum).

  6. Hi, Molly ~waves~
I love Hannah, Moishe & The Cookie Jar. Lake Eden is a fun place. Enjoy your book.
