Sunday Salon: December 6, 2015

I'm not sure how this week passed so quickly. One minute it is a cold, rainy Monday morning, and the next minute it is a warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. I became well acquainted with the chiropractor this week, but other than that, I'm not sure where the time went.

Today's Sunday Salon will be short and sweet...

Not much to report here, I fear. I had great plans to delve into my Christmas books. I have a few Christmas cozies calling my name, as well as a collection of short stories that continues to wait patiently on my shelves. Unfortunately,  I didn't begin a single one.

I am about half-way through the Goblet of  Fire, but even that is slow going.

Big Magic is sitting right here beside me, and yet I ignore its calling.

Perhaps this week I will finally finish something.

Blogging:
Evergreen baskets
Most of my writing this week focused on blog posts. I completed two guest posts that will be published next week, as well as three posts for my own blogs.

I'm hoping to return to First Impressionism this week and flesh out potential conflict. I have narrowed the target audience to 6th-8th grade, young YA. This has been my comfort level all along. Why do I doubt myself?

I did take time this week to have a bit of outdoor fun. I spent most of the dayThursday with a photography buddy.

We ventured to the Plaza - Kansas City's version of 5th Avenue or Miracle Mile or the Champs Elysees. The area truly shines at night, when nearly sixty miles of brightly colored bulbs outline each building. But we had fun during the daylight hours, strolling up and down the main street, taking pictures of holiday window displays and early-bird shoppers.

We also visited Union Station, and enjoyed photographing its festive decorations.

I definitely enjoyed a good week, it just lacked literary activity. Hopefully I will remedy this in the days ahead.

  1. Short and sweet is good sometimes and especially looks and sounded good for you despite the lack of reading. During holidays, it's hard to keep up with reading - and writing, so don't beat yourself up about it. Enjoy your time with family and friends. :)

  3. We readers are so hard on ourselves when we don't reach our self imposed goals. I always am hard on myself. I love your photos.

  5. Pretty photos. The holiday season is here and things are distracting. Too much to do! Enjoy your week.

  6. I liked The Goblet of Fire and hope you enjoy the entire sweries. I have been putting together reading goals for next year but won't be too hard on myself if I don't get to all of the books I plan on.

I lived in Lawrence KS for a while back in the 1980's and liked it. It's awfully cold there for me though, I have acclimated to Florida.

    1. I LOVE Lawrence, Tina!
We moved here in 1990, probably about the time you left.
I could easily acclimate to Florida, though - and hope to in about 5-10 years :)
