At Peace....

It didn't happen the way I envisioned.

I was watching the Arizona vs UConn game - not that I really care about basketball or March Madness - but that is what I was doing when I received a phone call.  Not from the hospice nurse whom I thought would call, but from the home health care provider.

Mom passed away quietly in her sleep around 6:40PM.  I did not fully believe it until the hospice worker officially proclaimed her death at 7:15.

It all seems so very surreal right now and yet....I am so thankful that I know she is finally at peace - rejoicing with the angels and being reunited with my dad - something that she has envisioned for over 5 and half years now.

Mom - you will be missed but I take comfort in knowing that I will see you again.  Save me a mansion next to yours, ok?

  2. How wonderful to know that she is at peace and reunited with her love. She looks like such a lovely woman. You have been walking a journey that we all will be called to with our own parents someday and I pray God gives you the peace and strength you now need for the upcoming days.
My sincerest sympathy and love to you....

  3. Oh, my condolences...but I know what that journey is like, too; when my mom passed three years ago, it was a quiet moment as well.

It didn't feel real until later.

She was also receiving hospice care.

I hope that you are filled with many wonderful memories to sustain you.

  6. Molly, my thoughts and prayers are with you...mothers are special and we don't want them to hurt or suffer in any way...but we don't ever want to lose them either.
Try to think heavily on the good times and the wonderful memories.

  23. I am so very, very sorry to hear about your loss - although it was expected it's always a shock. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Molly. My mother passed on Mother's Day 2004, and the word surreal that you used, is exactly the word that I would use as well for my experience. Sending a virtual hug to you.
