Today has been a difficult day. It started at 4:00AM when we got a call that my mom was found outside her apartment complex, dazed and confused. She is now resting comfortably in the hospital where she can be monitored, but I fear we are entering a new phase of life and one that I am not looking forward to.
A former student of mine sent me a link on facebook yesterday and it reminded me of this video I watched last summer. It speaks to me - provides motivation for difficult days - and I hope that perhaps you might enjoy it as well.
I am so sorry to hear about what happened today. I will think good thoughts and send prayers and energy to you and your mother -- my thoughts are with you all. What a wonderful link that you posted as well! We are all here for you, Molly, so please keep us posted, and let us know what we can do to help.
ReplyDeleteLove the video and thanks for posting it, Molly!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your mom. Our parents, despite what we think as we grow up, are always infallible in at least a small part of our minds. To see them vulnerable is heartbreaking. And my heat breaks for you going through it.
Hang tough.
I wish your mom fast recovery! Be strong for the family. I'm sure everything will work out.. :)
ReplyDeleteMolly...That video was awesome. At first I thought he was a comedian on stage poking fun at the profession. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your mom. This is so stressful I am sure.
So sorry to hear you may be entering a new phase. It's so tough. Fabulous video.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear. Molly, I'm sorry about your Mom. I hope things can be sorted out and medications stabilized or whatnot. Yes, you may be moving to a new stage. I understand. A big hug to you. Know that support is as near as your blog or our email addresses. Please use mine if you feel the need. I'm a good listener. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat teacher video, by the way.
I'm praying for you. It is a journey that I've taken with both my parents, still am with my dad. Over 10 years ago I quit my job to care for them. Mother died in early 08 of end stage Alzheimer's, she was sick with this hideous disease 18 years. Dad does not have this disease, but he has many health problems. I've cared for him in his home for over 8 years. It is really hard to watch dad stumble, literally---both physically and especially in not having the quick/bright mind that he had at one time.
ReplyDeleteIt is a long journey.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My dad has become bedridden recently, so I have some idea of how you feel. It's so difficult to watch our parents age. Don't forget to take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Molly. I did enjoy this video. Teachers need to hear such things from time to time as they are rarely told how much they do is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your mom. How frightened she must have felt, and you as well upon hearing of it. You will be in my prayers.
Oh Molly, I am sorry for this new "phase." So difficult. Sending you all kinds of positive thoughts and hopes...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the video, which I have seen before. It is awesome.
All best to you.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's health problems.
ReplyDeleteOh, Molly, I am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteMay God comfort you and your mom.
Don't you love those "old" students who bring us "new" inspiration?
Patti
I'm sorry to hear about your mother. My parents are both still alive. My mother's had Alzheimers since 1996. I don't know if that's what is happening to your mother, but if it is, I have compassion for what you will be going through. It will probably be long and difficult.
ReplyDeleteOh no, Molly! I hope things get better for you. I'm keeping you in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your mom. I hope you hear some positive news soon. ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you are having to deal with this--and I pray your mother will be okay.
ReplyDeleteI remember how awful it was the time I got a call from the police that they'd found my grandmother at a stranger's house. She has disoriented and had wandered up to the house, upset, looking for help. The stranger was very nice and gave her some water and called the police when my grandmother was unable to tell him where she lived. Even in that horrible moment, I will always be grateful to that stranger who was kind to my grandmother in her time of need.
